CREATE YOUR OWN TOWN EVENT
To do a Keep Hope Alive Flag Event in your community, you will need 3-4 weeks advanced planning to organize businesses and order the flags. The event may also cost a few hundred dollars, depending on how you handle “collateral materials” such as the cost of printing the Window Placards, Postcards and One Page Flyer.
We gave placards and post cards to businesses for free, but you can ask businesses to print the placards themselves. The post cards should really be done at a professional printer and we strongly recommend using local printers to do this work. We support local business!
Below is a sample One Page Flyer you can hand out or email to businesses when seeking their participation. We have found working with local business alliances and accessing their list serves is very helpful if possible.
Once businesses sign on, we make sure they have at least one, (though two is helpful) Window Placards for their businesses and a stack of postcards to give to inquiring customers. Customers will come in off the street and ask owners about the flags so we wanted to make it as easy as possible for the owners by giving them cards to hand to inquiring customers.
Some businesses will not be able to afford the cost of the flag ($25 plus tax). If that is the case and they still want to participate, you can either have a few flags you donate to the event, or ask them if they will display a Window Placard.
